FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES

Objectives

This Institute is an initiative aimed at becoming catalyst for consolidating ideas, research activities and action in the interest of the people towards promoting their direct participation in their sustainable transformation and progress. Basic objectives of the Institute are given below:

(i) The Institute aims at promoting multidisciplinary and inter-disciplinary research fundamental, applied, action, participatory, etc., in social sciences focussed on issues related to development, participation, and change.

(ii) One of the main objectives of the Institute will be: to identify and conceptualize the genesis of backwardness, to study the mechanism and process of change in the wake of development within appropriate theoretical and conceptual frame work and to analyse them in the light of empirical findings in order to work out their feasible solutions.

(iii) To the above ends to carry out study and research: fundamental, applied action, participatory, etc., in the following areas: (a) Non-violence and Peace (b) Indigenous Science and Technology (c) Philosophy; (d) History and Culture; (e) Political Economy; (f) Development Studies; (g) Information Networking(h) Statistics, Demography Hygiene and Health; (i) Labour and Employment;(j)Nature and Environment (k) Gender Studies; (l) Dalit and Minority (m) Education (n) Movement: Economic, Social, Cultural, and Political; (o) Social Work and Social Welfare and (p) Disaster Management (q) Other Relevant contemporary issues in the context of the Society and Development .

(iv)For these purposes Institute will undertake research, training and teaching courses in above mentioned subjects of item (iii) in order to train the potential scholars particularly of the remote areas through updating with latest research exposure; study of specific problems, if and when required by the government and non-governmental organisations and understand the potentialities, problems and prospects of all round development of state, society and economy.

(v)For these purposes the Institute will give emphasis on Empirical, Applied and Participatory Action Research Programmes for the development of the needy people.

(vi) To organise talks, seminars, symposia, meetings and conventions of the cross- sections of the people time to time for the purpose of achieving the objectives of the Institute.

(vii) The Institute may also do all such other things which are not mentioned in it but are conducive or incidental to the attainment of the above mentioned objectives.
